Online Application and Instructions

Applications are accepted based on interest in volunteerism, enthusiasm for the subject, experience in natural resource conservation and availability.


If you apply by May 1st, you will receive a discounted rate for early submission. Class size per training is limited to 10-15 persons so early applications are encouraged.  The deadline for applications is June 1, although applications may be considered after the deadline if there is space in the course. Please contact your regional Program Coordinator or

  • If selected in the first round, complete an interview with a PA Master Naturalist representative.
  • Successfully pass a volunteer screening.

If an individual successfully meets all other selection requirements, however the volunteer screening report has not been received, they may be accepted on a probationary status.  Upon receipt of the official report, the probationary status will be reviewed with a final acceptance/non-acceptance decision made at that time.

Tuition: $400 (this includes initial training and a full year of program engagement and services; and a $25 fee for the volunteer screening).  A $75 tuition discount is offered to applications received by the early application deadline.
